NASCAR is bringing back the “Presseason Thunder” test session at Daytona International Speedway in 2027. The test session will be used to help assess the potential technical changes to the car that could lessen the impact of conservation strategies at superspeedway tracks. However, it may not be the only return to Daytona.
There are discussions that NASCAR might bring the Clash back to Daytona during the 2027 season, as reported by Bozi Tatarevic on Dirty Mo Overdrive. NASCAR took the Clash from Daytona after the 2021 season before moving it to Los Angeles for three seasons. The Clash has been at Bowman Gray Stadium for the last two years.

Quite frankly, the Clash belongs on the oval layout at Daytona, and NASCAR going back to that format would be a wonderful development. It would also mean that NASCAR has the pre-season test, Clash, and opening race at Daytona. It isn’t official yet, but it would be a welcome development for the NASCAR fanbase.
