NASCAR is implementing a new wet-weather procedure ahead of this weekend’s action at Bristol Motor Speedway. Going forward, it will be left up to the teams on whether or not to switch from the Goodyear wet-weather tires to the normal slick tires when the track begins to dry.
Previously, NASCAR was the one to make the call on switching from wet-weather to slicker tires by throwing competition cautions. However, after criticism following a wet-weather race at New Hampshire a few weeks ago, NASCAR has decided to let the teams change tires at their own discretion.
