LAS VEGAS — Las Vegas Motor Speedway marks halfway for the Chase for the NASCAR Cup Series championship and near-halfway for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase.

The fifth NASCAR Cup Series Chase race of 10 is set for Sunday afternoon while the fourth NOAPS Chase race of nine is set for Saturday evening.

This is the first time NASCAR has raced in Las Vegas since the death of hometown hero Kyle Busch. Many tributes are planned for him this weekend, including a throwback scheme Kyle Larson will run in the Cup Series.

Four current Chase drivers have won at Las Vegas with the NextGen car. Joey Logano, Kyle Larson and Denny Hamlin have each won two NextGen races at Las Vegas, while William Byron has won once (Spring 2023).

Logano is the only driver with multiple fall race wins (2022, 2024). Larson won the fall race in 2023 before winning the spring race in 2024. Hamlin won the fall race in 2025 before winning here in March.

The winner of has started inside the top-10 in 12 of the last 13 Las Vegas Cup races. The one exception was when Alex Bowman started 13th and won in March 2022.

The average starting position for a NextGen Las Vegas winner is 4.9. Excluding Bowman’s win, the average goes to 3.88. If you start in one of the first three rows, you have a good chance at winning.

After the first “perfect race” of the 2026 season, oddsmakers put Kyle Larson as the favorite to win this Sunday at Las Vegas. Larson (+350) is ahead of Denny Hamlin (+400), who has won the last two Cup races at Las Vegas – including last year’s fall race:

With 36 cars entered for this Saturday’s race, everyone entered will make the field. Some of the notable entries include:

Lee Pulliam: No. 87 Peterson Racing Group Chevrolet

Pulliam will make his first start in the car he will drive full-time in 2027. This will be a big “fridge-to-frying pan” moment for the late model start as he has never raced on a track like this in any series.

Pulliam earned the full-time ride for 2027 not only on the strength of his late model resume but also with a fifth-place finish and 40 laps led in his NOAPS debut – at Martinsville Speedway in March with JR Motorsports.

Andrew Patterson: No. 32 Jordan Anderson Racing Chevrolet

Patterson also made his series debut at Martinsville in March. He started 19th and had a solid run until a crash wiped him out after completing 233 of 250 laps. He finished 31st.

His best finish is 14th at Naval Base Coronado in June. He has two other top-20 finishes: 19th at Dover Motor Speedway in May and at Bristol Motor Speedway this month.

Matt DiBenedetto: No. 42 Young’s Motorsports Chevrolet

DiBenedetto will make his first start of the 2026 season in any NASCAR series after an attempt to make the field at Darlington Raceway in March went awry. He raced full-time in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series last season with Viking Motorsports, with a best finish of fifth at Talladega that spring.

In the Las Vegas races last year, DiBenedetto finished 16th in the spring and 19th in the fall. Young’s Motorsports’ best NOAPS finish at Las Vegas is 18th, twice – Spring 2024 with Leland Honeyman and Spring 2025 with Anthony Alfredo.

In the last NOAPS 1.5-mile race, at Chicagoland Speedway, the Young’s No. 42 car also finished 18th with driver Garrett Smithley.

While the odds for the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Las Vegas haven’t been posted, the championship odds have been updated ahead of Saturday’s race:
