NASCAR has announced a new practice format for the Cup Series. Starting at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, NASCAR will double how much practice time Cup Series teams get most weeks. Several within NASCAR have pushed for more on-track time, specifically in the midpack of the Cup Series.

The sport is increasing practice to one 50-minute session instead of two groups of 25 minutes each. This firmly gives NASCAR teams and drivers an extra 25 minutes of practice time. NASCAR will also provide one more tire set so they can make multiple runs during the session.

This is an amazing decision for everyone. NASCAR fans deserved to see more track time, and the drivers/teams needed more practice. Outside of superspeedways, all tracks will have 50-minute practice sessions. It won’t happen over the next few weeks, but New Hampshire will mark the beginning of a new era.
