The women’s U.S. Open has an exciting two semifinals set for Thursday night.
After Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula face off in a battle of the two highest-ranked players remaining, the second semifinal promises to be just as good. Naomi Osaka is making her first grand slam semifinal appearance since 2021 against Amanda Anisimova, who is looking to make her second-straight grand slam championship match.
Osaka is a four-time major champion, twice at the U.S. Open and twice at the Australian Open, but fell in the rankings over the past few years. Now she is playing her best tennis since winning four majors in four years, defeatong Coco Gauff and Karolína Muchová this week.

On the other side is Anisimova, who has bounced back herself following a brief hiatus from the game. Anisimova’s rise peaked in July, when she reached the Wimbledon final but fell in convincing fashion to Iga Swiatek. However, Anisimova. defeated Swiatek on Wednesday to enact her revenge and advance this week.
Osaka has never lost when reaching this far in a major tournament, while Anisimova has never won a grand slam tournament herself.
