On Aug. 8, I gave Scottie Scheffler an A-minus for his 2026 regular season and left the grade open for revision.
The math had become difficult to explain any other way. Scheffler had played better golf than anyone on the PGA Tour, but he had not won often enough to receive full credit for it. Seventeen starts had produced one victory, five runner-up finishes and 11 top-fives. His 5.9% winning rate looked almost absurd beside a top-five rate of 64.7%.
