Saudi Arabia hosts a heavyweight fight featuring two generations on August 16 when Moses Itauma faces Dillian Whyte. The fight and event will air on DAZN.
Itauma (12-0) has been fast-tracked toward title contention early on since becoming an ambassador for The Ring. A multi-time gold medalist as an amateur, the Slovakian-born Brit, 20, has won ten fights via knockout.
Only two fights have made it out of the second round in Itauma’s short career. This is his first major test, and he looks to pass with flying colors.
“Pressure is always a thing, but pressure is a privilege,” Itauma said via CBS Sports. “Pressure allows you to show off your mettle. I use this moment to kind of use it to my advantage. I’m 20 years old, but I try not to think like a 20-year-old. I try to think as if I’m where my competition is at because I don’t want to ever use my age as an excuse.
“Dillian Whyte is a big fight and if I knock him out, it’s going to be a big statement.”
Whyte (31-3) is a former WBC interim heavyweight champion. Earning a shot against Tyson Fury in 2022, “The Body Snatcher” got knocked out. He has since won three straight and looks to defy the odds and Father Time against the surging Itauma.
