The Spanish Football Federation have confirmed Montse Tomé has left her role as the women’s team head coach.
The board of directors have decided to remove the 43-year-old from her post despite winning the 2023/24 Nations League title and only missing out on the 2025 European Championship in a penalty shootout loss to England.
Tomé presided over a disappointing semi-final loss at last year’s Olympics, but it was her role as assistant to controversial former head coach Jorge Vilda that is alleged to be part of the reason for her dismissal.
Sonia Bermúdez has been appointed as her successor.
The federation has undergone a major transformation following the high-profile removal of Luis Rubiales after the 2023 World Cup.
