Mendy has one year remaining on his Caen contract and has been consistently linked with a move away from the club this summer. He has also been strongly linked to EFL Championship side Watford. However, Foot Mercato reports that rumours of a supposed €1m bid by Watford are wide of the mark.
Mendy joined Caen in October 2020 and became the club’s all-time leading scorer in October 2024. He has scored 76 goals in 175 appearances. A product of the OGC Nice academy, Mendy’s career has included spells at Strasbourg, Nîmes, Guingamp, Bordeaux, and Brest.
Montpellier finished bottom of the 2024-5 Ligue 1 table, collecting just 16 points. Mendy – a proven, prolific goal scorer in Ligue 2 – could be a shrewd addition as the club seek an immediate return to the top flight.
