The New York Yankees aren’t finished yet.

The Yankees rallied after yet another slow start to stun the Toronto Blue Jays 9-6 on Tuesday at Yankee Stadium. It marked their first win in this ALDS and kept their postseason run alive after they dropped the first two games of this series. They now trail 2-1 heading into Wednesday’s Game 4.

The Blue Jays, after two extremely dominant outings in the first two games in Toronto, picked up right where they left off Tuesday, thanks largely to Vladimir Guerrero Jr. He hit a two-run home run in the first inning to put the Blue Jays on the board immediately. That marked his third straight game with a homer.

While the Yankees cut into that lead with a run in the bottom of the frame, the Blue Jays put up four in the third inning. Anthony Santander hit a two-RBI single, and Guerrero made it home safely on an Ernie Clement single with a wild, airborne dive into the plate.

That’s about when the Blue Jays’ offense shut down. The Yankees chipped away at the lead, making it 6-3 before Aaron Judge hit a three-run shot deep off the left-field foul pole in the fourth inning to suddenly tie the game. It was his first home run of this postseason and his 11th hit overall, which is the most by any player in the field.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. added a solo homer in the fifth inning — and had a perfect bat drop to go with it — to give the Yankees their first lead of the series.

By the time the Blue Jays were able to put together a scoreless inning defensively, the Yankees had put up eight unanswered runs, and any momentum the Blue Jays had was long gone.

Game 3 marked Toronto’s first loss of the year after leading by at least five runs in the contest. The Blue Jays were a perfect 39-0 in such instances prior to Tuesday.

While it wasn’t a good showing for the Blue Jays after the first two-and-a-half innings and they’re likely facing a bullpen game Wednesday, there is some good news for them. They are still a single win away from reaching the ALCS for the first time since 2016, and they’ve got two games to get that done.

The Yankees, even after their impressive rally, still have a lot of work to do. That’ll start with Game 4 on Wednesday (7:08 p.m. ET, FS1)
