ABERDEEN — A top finish for Mitchell golfer Asher Dannenbring led the way on Monday in the Sanford International Series.
Dannenbring claimed a fourth-place result at the one-day South Dakota Golf Association tournament at Moccasin Creek Country Club, firing a round of 3-over 75. Starting on Hole No. 10, he fired a 1-over 37 on the course’s back nine, carding a pair of birdies before finishing his round with an eagle at the par-5 No. 9 hole.
Mitchell’s Carter McCormick came in 10th place following a round of 6-over 78 with two birdies on the day. Everett Morrison, of Mitchell, was 16th after a round of 80 and Wessington Springs’ JD Thompson finished in 30th with an 85.
The boys individual title was shared between Onida’s Gavin Colson and Sioux Falls’ Tyson Blom after both golfers shot rounds of even-par 72. North Sioux City’s Logan Collette was third with a 3-over 75 and Matt De Beer finished behind Dannenbring in fifth after a 4-over 76.
In the girls event, Mitchell’s Maddie Childs placed in 12th after carding a round of 86 against Moccasin Creek’s par-72 layout. Chamberlain’s Trey Speer also fired an 86 en route to coming home in 13th.
Aberdeen’s Olivia Braun carded five total birdies in her round to finish with the victory at even-par 72. Watertown’s Brynn Roehrich was second following a 6-over 78, with Miller’s Jayce Pugh (80), Watertown’s Gabi Olson (81) and Aberdeen’s Emma Dohrer (81) completing the top-five.
The next Sanford Series event takes place on Monday, July 7, at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell.
