Russell, 16, will play his fourth PGA Tour event and his eighth pro event overall

  • Sixteen-year-old Miles Russell will compete in his fourth PGA Tour event at the Procore Championship.
  • Russell is paired with PGA Tour rookies Matthew Riedel and David Ford for the first two rounds.
  • Russell has yet to make a cut in a PGA Tour event but finished tied for 20th in a Korn Ferry Tour event.

Jacksonville Beach resident Miles Russell will play his first two rounds of the PGA Tour Procore Championship in Napa, Calif., with two past college stars who are Tour rookies this season, Matthew Riedel and David Ford.

Russell, 16, gained a spot in the field for his fourth PGA Tour start through a sponsor exemption in the first event of the Tour’s FedEx Cup Fall. He will tee off at 11:50 a.m. (EDT) on Sept. 11 in the first round, off the 10th tee of the Silverado Resort North Course; and at 4:55 p.m. at No. 1.

Russell is looking for his first made cut in a PGA Tour event. He missed the cut in three previous starts, most recently in the ISCO Championship in Louisville, Ky., this summer. He has made one cut in four starts on the Korn Ferry Tour, tying for 20th in the 2024 LECOM Suncoast Open.

What to know about Miles Russell’s playing partners

Riedel earned his PGA Tour card for 2025 by tying for fourth at the PGA Tour Q-School last December at the TPC Sawgrass Dye’s Valley and Sawgrass Country Club. The former Vanderbilt star, who was All-SEC and All-American, is 177th on the FedEx Cup points list and has made eight of 19 cuts. His best finish is a tie for 26th at the Puerto Rico Open and the Rocket Classic.

Ford, who, like Russell, is a left-hander, earned PGA Tour status by finishing first on the PGA Tour University rankings. He has made one of seven cuts, finishing 75th in the 3M Championship. He was the ACC Player of the Year in 2023 and 2025, earned three national Player of the Year awards in 2025 and, like Russell, is a past Junior Players Championship winner in 2020.

When does Scottie Scheffler tee off?

Because U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley urged players to get in a tune-up before the matches against Europe Sept. 25-28, 10 of the 12 are playing this week, at a time when most of the highly-ranked players in the world take time off.

Two groups have six of the 10 Ryder Cup players.

World No. 1-ranked Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship and the British Open, U.S. Open winner J.J. Spaun and Russell Henley will tee off No. 1 at 3:38 p.m. in the first round and at No. 10 at 10:55 a.m. in the second round.

Justin Thomas, Ben Griffin and Cameron Young will play together in the first round at 4:11 p.m. off No. 1, and in the second round at 11:06 a.m. off No. 10.
