Michael Vick and Norfolk State blew a 13‑point lead on the road, falling 18‑13 to Wagner and dropping to 1‑4 on the season with a third straight loss on Saturday.

Otto Kuhns completed 17-of-28 passes for 119 yards with one interception. Israel Carter came in late, finishing 5-of-9 for 29 yards and also throwing a pick. Kevon King and X’Zavion Evans each scored a rushing touchdown for the Spartans.

Vick and the Spartans dropped their season opener against Towson but bounced back with a 34-31 win over Virginia State in Week 2. Since then, they’ve lost three straight—falling to Rutgers, Sacred Heart, and Wagner.

On Saturday, their fortunes didn’t change.

Norfolk State struck first in the opening quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run by Evans, but a missed extra point left the score at 6-0. An interception by the Spartans’ defense set them up for their second touchdown of the quarter—a 1-yard run by King—to take a 13-0 lead into the second.

But that was where the scoring stopped for Vick’s side.

An interception set up Wagner’s first touchdown, and the Seahawks struck again in the third quarter. However, both extra point attempts were missed, and Norfolk held a narrow 13-12 lead heading into the final frame.

On their first drive of the fourth quarter, Wagner found the end zone to take an 18-13 lead. Norfolk had no response, going three-and-out on one possession and throwing an interception on the other.

The Spartans will look to bounce back on the road next Saturday against Hampton.
