The Mets could potentially be moving on from right-handed pitcher Sean Reid-Foley.
MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo reports the Mets are placing Reid-Foley on outright waivers. DiComo notes that this move doesn’t necessarily mean the right-hander won’t be on the Mets in 2025, but it’s a step the team is taking to remove Reid-Foley from the 40-man roster. However, this move leaves Reid-Foley exposed to being claimed by another team.
If the 29-year-old clears waivers, he’ll return to the Mets organization.
Last season, Reid-Foley pitched well for the Mets. In 23 games, he pitched to a 1.66 ERA and 1.25 WHIP, including striking out 25 batters in 21.2 innings. However, he dealt with shoulder issues that kept him out for the first month of the season and for the second half of 2024. His last start in the big leagues came against the Texas Rangers on June 19.
Reid-Foley pitched in only one game this spring. He allowed one hit and one walk across 0.2 innings pitched on March 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
