GREEN ‒ A Massillon golfer had a great day on the green last month — and he’s got a new set of wheels to show for it.
Scott Dodson, the chief financial officer for Shoemaker Rigging & Transport, hit a hole-in-one at the Green Area Chamber golf outing Aug. 1 at Raintree Golf & Event Center.
Serra Auto Park put up a 2025 Chevy Blazer EV as the prize for getting a hole-in-one on No. 16, a 144-yard par 3. Dodson knocked it in with an 8 iron.
“Scott nailed a once-in-a-lifetime hole-in-one! He was literally floored by the win,” the Green auto dealership said in a Facebook post while sharing a photo of Dodson lying on the green.
Dodson said this was the first time he had ever hit a hole-in-one, and it was amazing to pair that accomplishment with a new vehicle. He picked up the Chevy Blazer EV on Sept. 2.
“It was nice to have all sorts of witnesses,” he said. “It was very crazy.”
‘It kind of became a reality very quickly.’
Dodson said he’s been playing in the outing for a few years, and he’s never done nearly as well.
“This year, I pulled up to the hole and knew it was the car hole and just swung the club, and it worked out well,” he said.
Dodson said he was initially shocked to see the ball go in.
“I heard a lot of people screaming,” he said. “I sat down initially, and it kind of became a reality very quickly.”
Dodson said the prize was a two-year lease on the car, but he decided he wanted to own the car, so his prize became money down.
“It drives very well,” he said. “I really like it a lot.”
