The Mariners will look to avoid the ignominy of being mopped at home – something that they’ve managed to avoid since August 2017 – by the lowly A’s this afternoon, but hey, we’ll be treated to another big league debut! In case you didn’t know, we love those around here, and it’s at least something to keep an eye on as the club plays out the string.
Lineups:
Michael Arroyo makes his long-awaited debut in Seattle batting eighth and playing second base, giving Cole Young a rare day off. Jhonny Pereda will be behind the dish for Bryan Woo while Cal Raleigh – whose hot hitting continued with a three-hit night on Saturday – will remain in the lineup at DH. Lefty rookie Gage Jump will start for the Athletics, so Weston Wilson once again will be at the hot corner. Sacramento’s lineup is fairly similar to last night’s, with the exception of Carlos Cortes being back in left field and Jonah Heim sitting in favor of Brian Serven. This will be the first time Jump has faced the Mariners since his Major League debut on May 26th, in which he gave up four runs over five innings. Something close to that would be more than welcome after last night’s beatdown from Jeffrey Springs.
