Manchester City have now found out their opponents for the quarter-final stage of this season’s FA Cup following an impressive win in the fifth round.
Pep Guardiola’s side have put in a string of bright performances in the latest edition of the competition, with their most recent victory coming against Premier League opposition and a familiar side across competitions.

Manchester City travelled to face Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United for the fifth time this campaign following meetings in the Premier League and a semi-final double-header in the Carabao Cup.
Harvey Barnes got the hosts off to the perfect start at St James’ Park, before Savinho levelled the tie before the interval, making room for Omar Marmoush to grab the headlines once more and strike home a brace to seal a 1-3 away win.
That victory adds to an emphatic 10-1 win over League One side Exeter City in the third round of the competition back in January, before a more narrow 2-0 win over League Two’s Salford City just a few weeks later.

Now, as City look to make it all the way to the FA Cup final once again under Pep Guardiola, it has been confirmed that the Catalan coach and his players will take on Premier League outfit Liverpool in the quarter-final stage of the competition at the Etihad Stadium.

The quarter-final stage of the FA Cup will be played around the weekend of Saturday 4 April.
For Manchester City, that will mean that their cup tie against Liverpool will follow the Carabao Cup Final against Arsenal on 22nd March and the following international break.

Following the FA Cup meeting, City could then take on a Champions League quarter-final 1st-leg tie during midweek should they progress beyond Real Madrid this month, or the following weekend’s meeting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League.
