After leaving PSG late in the transfer window, Gianluigi Donnarumma started for Manchester City in the derby against Manchester United and quickly made a positive impression.

The Italian goalkeeper joined Manchester City for a reported €35 million (£30.3 million), with the Premier League club seizing the chance to sign a UEFA Champions League winner in his prime to succeed Ederson.

In Sunday’s Manchester Derby, Donnarumma made two key saves to keep Manchester United from scoring. While the match didn’t demand much from him, his performance earned praise from the English media.

“The moment he was on the market, he was happy to come to the Premier League – to enjoy this new adventure in his life. We are really pleased that he wanted to come to us. And after the [Ederson] situation, it was possible. We are happy to have him!”

“Honestly, I was looking forward to joining Manchester City because they really wanted me, because Guardiola really wanted me,” Donnarumma said. “I can only be proud to have arrived at a club like City. I am very happy.”
