Weather is 2-for-2 at the LPGA’s FM Championship. A year ago, the final round had a two-hour delay before Haeran Ryu defeated Jin Young Ko in a playoff to just beat sundown.

Friday at TPC Boston, there were a couple of weather delays that hampered the competition during the second round. There was a one-hour delay around lunchtime and then another around 4 p.m. which lasted till 6:15 p.m ET.

At one point, the threesome of Lauren Coughlin, Jeeno Thitikul and Hannah Green could be seen jogging up the fairway on the ninth hole to try to finish before the horn sounded. They started on the 10th hole and rushed to complete their round, which they did.

While Coughlin shot a 73 to follow up her 69, Green shot her second straight 68 on Friday and is tied for third at 8 under, two back. Thitikul, who recently returned to the No. 1 spot in the Rolex Rankings, shot 69-68 and is four shots back.

The solo leader at the FM Championship was Miranda Wang, who opened with a 66 and followed up with a Frida 67. She’s at 11 under and leading by two.

Right behind her is Madelene Sagstrom at 9 under after she shot rounds of 69-66. Should she go on to win in Boston, Sagstrom would be the first multi-time winner on the LPGA this season. She won the T-Mobile Match Play in Las Vegas in April, defeating Coughlin in the final. Five days ago in Canada, Brooke Henderson became the 23rd different winner on the LPGA in 22 events this season. If 36-hole leader Wang wins Sunday, the no-one-winning-more-than-once streak will continue.

Like the rest of the field, Sagstrom had to figure out what to do with her time during the multiple delays.

“The first one, so my husband caddies,” she said of her spouse who’s working the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour, which also had weather delays Friday. “So I kept refreshing the scores over there. That was my first mission. Then everyone sits and watched the radar, like what’s going to happen. But I mean, mostly sitting in dining. I didn’t have lunch the first, and then they blew the horn the second time and I was like, well now I’ll eat something. I don’t really like playing on a super full stomach.

“You just kind of hang out, make sure you use the bathroom, just walk around. Had a coffee. We get like 30 minute updates about what it’s kind of looking like, so it’s not really like pleasant. It’s a little bit of anticipation. Like should I run to the driving range or can I sit here for a little bit?”

The tour did squeeze in about another hour of play late Friday. The second round will resume Saturday morning and then they’ll go right into the third round.
