The LPGA had a golden opportunity at the Ford Championship this week. And somehow, they have made it harder than it needed to be.

Nelly and Jessica Korda are competing in the same official LPGA event for the first time in almost three years.

That alone is a major storyline — one that should have been front and centre for fans and broadcasters alike.

Instead, the two sisters are not even in the same wave. Nelly is out in the morning, while Jessica tees it up in the afternoon. It is a difficult decision to understand.

This is exactly the kind of moment the LPGA should be maximising.

The tour is competing for attention during one of the busiest periods in the sporting calendar, with March Madness, MLB Opening Day and The Masters buildup all dominating headlines.

Putting the Korda sisters together would have been an easy win. It would have created a compelling narrative for viewers, boosted television interest and given fans a rare chance to watch one of golf’s most famous sibling duos side by side.

Instead, the LPGA has split them across different tee times, making it far more difficult to build that momentum.

For a sport that is constantly looking for ways to grow its audience, this feels like a missed opportunity.

Jessica Korda’s return made moment even bigger for LPGA

The context only makes the decision more surprising. Jessica Korda has not featured regularly on the LPGA Tour since 2023, when she withdrew from the Founders Cup.

She stepped away from the game due to a back injury and the birth of her first child, Greyson, making this week a significant moment in her return.

Yes, the sisters have played together in unofficial events in recent months. But this is their first official LPGA appearance together in almost three years.

That is a rare and valuable storyline — one that does not come around often. The LPGA had a chance to lean into that. Instead, it has diluted the impact.

The Korda sisters will still attract attention, of course, but it could have been so much bigger.
