Lottie Woad’s offseason highlight might be easy to guess. The rising English star got the VIP treatment on Sunday at Elland Road. Woad was onsite with her family for the Leeds versus Manchester United rivalry where the 21-year-old LPGA winner was presented with a personalized jersey before the match.
“My granddad is from Leeds, on my dad’s side,” Woad told LPGA.com. “So dad supported Leeds, which meant I was born into it, which can be good and it can also be trouble. For the first 16 years of my life. we were not in the Premiere League, on the struggle bus. But, yeah, I love them, and a diehard fan.”
The match ended in a 1-1 draw, extending Leeds’ undefeated streak to seven games.
Woad, currently ranked 11th in the world, qualified for the LPGA’s season-opening Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, Jan. 29-Feb. 1, by winning the first tournament of her LPGA pro debut, the ISPS Handa Women’s Scottish Open.
