Liverpool are undoubtedly one of the biggest clubs in world football, but the last 18 months on the pitch haven’t reflected that.
Since winning the Premier League in 2025, the Reds have disappointed, only finishing fifth last season and struggling to find any consistency on the pitch.

Inconsistency hasn’t stopped the hierarchy at Anfield from investing in the squad though, and the Reds’ spend over the last three transfer windows now sits at around £700 million.
It is clear that the club want to remain right at the top of the pile in England and now the former chief executive of a massive rival has revealed he believes the Reds are heading in the right direction.
Liverpool’s new deal could keep them at the top
It was recently announced that following the end of the season, Liverpool’s front of shirt sponsor will change from Standard Chartered to Turkish Airlines.

The finances involved in the deal are believed to be record breaking for the Premier League and will mark the first change in shirt sponsor at Anfield since 2010.
Now, former Everton chief executive Keith Wynesss has stated he believes Liverpool have cemented their position as ‘the Premier League’s leading club in the commercial department’.
“I think that Liverpool have done very well and have led the way,” Wyness told Football Insider. “Their fan base is very big internationally throughout Asia, North America, all the key markets. So for any major sponsor, [Liverpool’s shirt sponsor] is a very attractive one.”
Whilst commercial success is obviously important for the club, for most supporters success on the pitch matters more.

The change in the dugout from Arne Slot to Andoni Iraola will hopefully bring about more consistency and success on the pitch, and Liverpool’s continued commercial strength will also keep them competitive in the transfer market.
Now supporters would like to see the Reds’ commercial dominance translate to dominance and results in matches, hopefully leading to a few more trophies at Anfield.
