In a recent report, Defensa Central claimed that Liverpool have been offered a chance to land Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo. It has been stated that the Reds have been given a chance by Barca president Joan Laporta to sign the Uruguayan talent this summer.
Araujo enjoyed a good run of form at the Catalan club after he put in a run of solid displays for them in La Liga. The Uruguayan talent registered two goals and earned two assists in 25 matches for Barcelona last season in various competitions.
The 26-year-old missed a lot of games for the Catalan giants last season due to a hamstring injury. Araujo distributed the ball relatively well from the back based on his pass success rate of 91.9% in La Liga (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the Nou Camp will run out in the summer of 2031. Thus, Liverpool would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about signing Araujo this off-season.

Araujo is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when the opposition are on the front foot.
The Uruguayan talent is proficient at playing his way out from the back. Araujo mainly operates as a central defender but can also play as a right-back if required. However, he might need some time to adjust to the high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds decide to move in for him in this transfer period.
Araujo would bring more bite and steel to Liverpool boss Arne Slot’s defence. He has what it takes to serve as a decent squad player for the Merseyside club in the coming years.
At 26, Araujo is about to enter his prime which makes him a good option for the Reds to consider this off-season. He might even help Liverpool compete across all fronts over the next few years. Furthermore, Araujo would serve as an ideal successor to Virgil Van Dijk, who has entered the final stage of his playing career. Hence, Slot should focus on getting him on board soon.
