There are no LIV Golf members in the top 20 in the world for the first time since the league’s inception.
The ranking for the week of Sept. 14, 2025 showed Bryson DeChambeau as the highest-rated LIV Golf player in the Official World Golf Ranking at No. 21 — down two spots from the week prior as Alex Noren soared up to No. 18 with his victory at the BMW PGA Championship.
LIV Golf has been pushing to have its events awarded points in the OWGR to no avail. The league applied for such status again over the summer after withdrawing its initial application, which was submitted in 2022.
“It’s still a bit premature. We have filed an application, and I’m in pretty good contact with [OWGR Chairman] Trevor Immelman,” LIV Golf CEO Scott O’Neil said when the second application was submitted in July. “He’s been a good source of encouragement, push-back, debate, and we’ve both agreed to keep those conversations between the two of us until we take another step forward.”
But for now, LIV Golf players must suffer the consequences of choosing to play on a new closed-circuit tour with events featuring only 54 holes, shotgun starts and no cuts. All of those elements, along with inconsistencies regarding LIV’s relegation system, have been cited by the OWGR as reasons to deny the league rankings points.
At No. 21, DeChambeau is still the highest-ranked member of LIV by a long shot. Jon Rahm — a two-time major winner and the league’s back-to-back season-long champion — clocked in at No. 73 in the world this week, while Joaquin Niemann, who won five times on LIV this season, is ranked 106th.
Three LIV Golf members will head to Bethpage next week for the 2025 Ryder Cup. DeChambeau will represent the U.S. while Rahm and Englishman Tyrrell Hatton will play for Team Europe.
