Baltimore Ravens star Lamar Jackson was ruled out of the team’s matchup with the Houston Texans on Sunday due to a hamstring strain, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Cooper Rush will now take over as the Ravens’ starter at quarterback.

Jackson left Baltimore’s 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 due to a hamstring issue.

Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that the four-time Pro Bowler could miss two to three weeks with the injury.

The Ravens struggled to open the 2025 season before Jackson’s ankle troubles, as the defeat at the hands of the Chiefs dropped them to 1-3. They already faced a 27-10 deficit at the time of their star quarterback’s injury.

He threw for 147 yards and one touchdown to go along with one interception in the loss.

Jackson has been relatively healthy as of late, appearing in 33 of a possible 34 regular-season contests from 2023-24. His only missed game over that span occurred in the season finale of Baltimore’s 2023 campaign for rest purposes.

The two-time AP MVP was previously limited to 12 starts in both 2021 and 2022 due to ankle and knee issues, respectively.

Jackson was in the midst of another impressive individual campaign before his latest injury. Prior to his shortened game against the Chiefs, he completed 72 percent of his throws for 722 yards and nine touchdowns without getting picked off through three appearances. He also rushed for 118 yards.

Rush replaced Jackson during the loss to Kansas City, finishing 9-of-13 for 52 yards.

Until Jackson is able to return, Rush should continue to serve as Baltimore’s starter.
