As the Los Angeles Lakers gear up for training camp and the 2024-25 season, LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, are already going at it.
LeBron posted some of his trash talk to Bronny on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, posting that he told Bronny he played “great defense” on him but was bested by “better O” after the elder James took him baseline for a reverse layup.
No surprises there, of course—LeBron is one of the greatest players in NBA history, and his 19-year-old son averaged 4.8 points per game in his lone season at USC. LeBron may be a 39-year-old, but he’s a mismatch for the majority of the NBA, let alone a second-round draft pick.
As for when the duo might play on the court together in a regular season game, that is being planned already.
“We obviously have talked about it as a staff and we’ve gotten into some specifics of what that might look like,” new head coach JJ Redick told reporters. “But we haven’t committed to anything. And obviously, there’s a discussion to be had once we’re all together with Bronny and LeBron, too. They should be a part of that discussion as well.”
