MEDINA, Minn. — Jordana Windhorst Knudsen is no stranger to the top of the leaderboard at signature golf tournaments in Minnesota.
Wednesday, the Lake City native and University of Minnesota golfer did it again.
Windhorst Knudsen shot a three-round total of 10-over-par at Medina Golf & Country Club to earn a top-10 finish at the 2025 Women’s State Amateur Championship. She shot 75-75-76—226, to place eighth overall.
Emma Davies, an Eden Prairie native who’ll be a junior at the University of St. Thomas in the fall, won the championship with a 54-hole total of 2-over. Ava Hanneman (Orono native, Furman University sophomore) and Kathryn VanArragon (Blaine, U. of St. Thomas) tied for second at 5-over.
Windhorst Knudsen, who plays out of The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, was very consistent in her three rounds at the State Am this week. She shot 37-38—75 on Monday and Tuesday, and 38-38—76 on Wednesday. She had two birdies, two bogeys and two double-bogeys in her final round.
Davies, who plays out of Olympic Hills Golf Club in Eden Prairie, made three bogeys, a double-bogey and a remarkable seven birdies in her final round 70.
Other southeastern Minnesotans who made the cut at the Women’s State Am included Owatonna’s Carmen Jirele and Rochester’s Flora Bolster.
Jirele, the 2024 Class 3A high school state medalist, placed 38th at Medina, shooting 82-81-81—244.
Bolster, who’ll be a senior at Mayo High School this fall, shot 81-86-90—257 to tie for 57th place at the State Am. She had an exceptional junior season this past spring, qualifying for the Class 3A state meet and posting an 83.07 scoring average for the season.
