In the quest for three wins in three days, Kyle Larson pulled off an improbable comeback in the final stage to win Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Battling Layne Riggs and Ross Chastain for second at Lap 91, Larson went for a spin after he made contact with Riggs entering Turn 1. He had a flat tire and needed to pit, restarting at the tail of the field.
With fresher tires — and more experience running the fence than almost the entire field — Larson quickly climbed through the field, but it seemed like too little, too late.

Leading with 21 laps to go, Corey Heim, who swept the opening stages, suddenly lost power entering Turn 3, losing nearly two seconds and the lead. It happened twice over seven laps before Heim retook the lead from Ross Chastain.
Heim seemingly had the race under control in the final laps, but with five to go, Heim’s truck lost power again. Riggs took the lead but Larson tracked him down with two to go and held on for the victory.
Riggs finished second while Heim, Tyler Ankrum and Daniel Hemric completed the top five. Chastain, Jake Garcia, Chandler Smith, Grant Enfinger and Kaden Honeycutt rounded out the top 10.
Ty Majeski finished top five in each of the first two stages, but while on pit road after Stage 2, he made contact with Kaden Honeycutt exiting his pit stall and suffered left-front fender damage. Crew chief Joe Shear Jr. ordered him down pit road for repairs, losing all of his track position. Majeski climbed back through the field to finish 11th.
On the initial start, Gio Ruggiero got sideways entering Turn 1, sliding into the outside wall and collecting Ben Rhodes. Both cleared the damaged vehicle policy (DVP) and returned to the race.
The Craftsman Truck Series returns to action next Friday at Martinsville Speedway (7:30 p.m. ET, FS1, NASCAR Radio Network, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
