Kyle Busch and his fans were hopeful heading into Kansas after a solid run in 2024, where the No. 8 led late but an untimely crash ended his day. The two-time champion was also in need of a good run after a single top 10 in his last seven races.

On Sunday, after a relatively uneventful first stage, the Richard Childress Racing driver found himself running 12th in Stage 2 and grew increasingly frustrated with his inability to pass the lapped car of Bubba Wallace.

“Un-[expletive] believable!” the driver said over the team radio. “These cars suck so bad. Thank you, NASCAR.”

“10-4,” spotter Derek Kneeland replied. “Yes, they do. Deep breath here. Just keep being smart. You’re gonna get your opportunity here.”

Fast forward to the third stage and the 40-year-old driver was running 15th on a restart when he was involved in an accident that sent him for a spin.

“Hang on here. No yellow yet. No yellow,” Kneeland told his driver as the No. 8 car slid down the apron. “Caution. Caution. Try to get it rolling here if you can.”

“Un-[expletive] believable!” the frustrated driver said.

Moments later as Busch tried to limp his car to pit road, the spotter and driver had another exchange.

”They can just put right sides on it. I know it’s gonna be tough,” Kneeland told him.

“It is [expletive] [expletive]!” Busch screamed over the radio.

“I know it doesn’t help ’cause the damage is done, but looking back at the replay, the 21 just came down and pounded the four’s right front and knocked him into you,” the spotter described.

“They’re all [expletive] clowns,” the driver responded. “Every single one of ’em.”

After a trip to pit road and a return to the track, a dejected Busch keyed up the radio

”I mean, we can’t even make anything of a mediocre day,” he admitted.

“Alright, so there’s going to be a penalty here because we pitted before pit road was open,” his spotter told him. “There’s only a couple guys that are one lap down — the 24, 47, 41, and 71. Anybody else that would be around you would be two or more down. I’ll let you know once we go back green on who those guys are.”

“We’re not gonna be fast enough so I could give a [expletive] less. We’ll just do what we do.”

Busch finished 21st.
