Kyle Busch isn’t holding back and ahead of the NASCAR All-Star Race, he’s making it clear where he stands. After a brutal outing at Kansas Speedway where he spun out and slammed into multiple drivers, Busch turned his attention to next weekend’s All-Star Race and its controversial new rule: the promoter’s caution.
The rule gives Speedway Motorsports CEO Marcus Smith the power to throw a caution flag at any time before Lap 220 of the 250 lap race at North Wilkesboro. While it’s meant to spice up the show, Busch isn’t a fan.
“What are we doing?” Busch said on the Door Bumper Clear podcast. “If we’re Bailey and Barnum [the circus], then let’s just freaking call it Bailey and Barnum. I mean, they went out of business.”
That frustration boiled over again during his appearance on Actions Detrimental with Denny Hamlin, where the two-time Cup champion issued a sharp warning.
“If there’s a natural yellow between Lap 200 and 225, there will not be a promoter’s yellow,” Busch explained. “So at Lap 200, we all need to figure out who we’re going to run into. It’s going to be payback central. If I’m running 12th and I’ve got no shot to win and there’s a few select drivers in front of me, I am going to take care of Marcus’s yellow.”

Coming off a 21st-place finish at Kansas after calling other drivers “clowns” and venting over his team radio, Busch seems fed up and dangerously motivated. With the All-Star Race looming and emotions still simmering from a chaotic race weekend, fans could be in for more than just fireworks on the short track.
The question now isn’t whether the promoter’s caution will come into play—but who might get used to trigger it.
