Kingussie remain on course to repeat their 2024 clean sweep of all shinty’s major trophies after a comprehensive 7-2 defeat of Kinlochshiel in the Artemis Macaulay Cup.

Lovat squeezed past Caberfeidh 2-1 at Balgate in the same competition.

Newly-promoted Fort William maintained their unbeaten record in all competitions with a 1-1 Mowi Premiership draw against Oban Camanachd at An Aird and Beauly’s nightmare season continued with a 5-0 defeat to Skye in Portree.

Kinlochshiel’s Keith MacRae must have provoked Kingussie with his early goal since the holders roared back with a Ruaridh Anderson hat-trick, a Roddy Young double and one each from Savio Genini and Dylan Borthwick. Donald Nixon scored Shiel’s second late on.

Graeme MacMillan grabbed an early goal for Lovat. Marc MacLachlan made it 2-0 on the hour before Craig Morrison pulled one back.

Scott MacMillan gave Oban Camanachd the lead midway through the first half and Lewis Morrison’s late equaliser came in the 93rd minute. Fort and Camanachd both join leaders Kingussie on 10 points.

Ruaraidh MacLeod and Jamie Gillies scored two each for Skye with the other goal from Dan MacDonald in their first league success of the season.

In the preliminary round of the Tulloch Camanachd Cup for lower league sides, Glasgow Mid Argyll eclipsed hosts Aberdour 6-0 and Kilmallie, whose Calum MacDougall got four, thumped visitors Strathglass 5-0. It was 5-2 for Inverness at Ardnamurchan and Glenurquhart edged Col Glen 2-1 after extra time.
