That’s not something you see every day.

Keita Nakajima, the 126th-ranked golfer in the world, was 4 under through 14 holes Thursday during the opening round of the DP World Tour’s FedEx Open de France. He stood over his ball, nestled in the first cut, and took a swing.

Thing is, he completely missed the ball. He seemed to pull up on the downswing, and he eventually dropped his club and turned toward the gallery and started looking around, confused.

“What happened there?” the announcers questioned as Nakajima, then T-3, seemed just as puzzled as the announcers as to what had just transpired.

“Was there a noise in the background, was there maybe a moth that flew over the ball,” the announcers said, trying to find a reason why one of the best golfers in the world completely whiffed on a shot.

The video makes it seem as if someone sneezed in his swing, but whatever it was, it clearly distracted him.

According to scoring, which could change, he was not penalized for the swing and whiff, but he did end up making a bogey on the hole.

File that one under things we won’t see again for some time.
