Japanese pound-for-pound entrant Junto Nakatani makes the maiden defense of his WBC bantamweight title against Petch Sor Chitpattana at the Ariake Arena on October 14. The 12-round bout, plus undercard action, will be broadcast by ESPN+ in the U.S.

Nakatani (28-0, 21 KOs) is a three-weight world champion and one of the best fighters in boxing. The 26-year-old southpaw has terrific skills, lightning hand speed and fight-ending power in either hand. As much as he’s achieved, his greatest nights lie ahead of him, as he’s in hot pursuit of “The Monster” himself… Naoya Inoue.

Sor Chitpattana (76-1, 53 KOs) is a strong and rampaging lefty out of Thailand. This is a huge step up in class for the 30-year-old contender who has fought almost exclusively in his home country. In his only away assignment, in 2018, he was outpointed by Takuma Inoue in a non-title fight. This will be his first attempt at winning a world championship.

The Sporting News will provide undercard results and a full report on the main event.
