Josiah Trotter comes from strong NFL pedigree. He put it on full display in his NFL debut.
A rookie linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Trotter is the son of former Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro Jeremiah Trotter. After a standout college career with Missouri and West Virginia, Trotter was a second-round selection by the Bucs in April’s NFL Draft.

His first NFL game on Sunday was one to remember. Early in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Bengals, Trotter came up with a sack of Cincinnati quarterback Joe Burrow.
The third-down ended Cincinnati’s drive and forced the Bengals to settle for a field goal.
On Cincinnati’s next possession, Trotter came up even bigger. This time Burrow threw a pass in the flat on third-and-5 targeting Andrei Iosivas. Trotter was in coverage and jumped the route.
He intercepted the ball in stride and ran untouched down the left sideline for a pick 6.
The touchdown cut Cincinnati’s lead to 27-20 late in the third quarter and made a once 21-3 game competitive.

Trotter’s father, Jeremiah, had a standout 11-season NFL career playing for Philadelphia, Washington and Tampa Bay. He made four Pro Bowls and was twice named All-Pro. His brother, Jeremiah Trotter Jr., is a third-year pro playing for the Eagles.
Now Josiah’s in the NFL looking to make a name for himself with the Bucs. So far so good in a remarkable NFL debut.
