Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) has called for a shock trilogy fight, which he wants to take place on the Usyk-Dubois 2 undercard on July 19th in London.
Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois will clash in the first-ever undisputed heavyweight match on UK soil on July 19th at Wembley Stadium, London, live on DAZN.
WBO Interim champ Parker is the mandatory opponent for whoever emerges victorious, but he has now revealed his willingness to appear in a trilogy fight on the undercard.
The 33-year-old former world champion from New Zealand said, “I’d like to be out ASAP. I know Usyk and Dubois are fighting on July 19, I’d like to either fight not long after that or it’d be great if I could be on the same card.”
The likeable heavyweight, who trains with Andy Lee, then revealed exactly who he would like to fight next, “It’d be nice to fight someone like Derek Chisora. He is looking for his 50th fight and I’m not sure if he is going to fight for a title.
“I know I’ve beaten him twice, but I’ve never had a trilogy in my career, so Derek always brings it, and it could be a good sort of fight to keep me busy.”
Parker beat Chisora in back to back bouts in 2021. Their first fight was close, ending via split decision, but Parker got it right in the rematch to drop Derek three times en route to a unanimous decision win.
In his next fight, Auckland’s Parker was KO’d for the first time in his career by Briton Joe Joyce, but has since rebounded with a six-fight win streak that has seen him scalp the likes of Deontay Wilder, Zhilei Zhang and Martin Bakole.
He has more than earned his position as the mandatory contender, especially after his fight with Daniel Dubois in February was cancelled on fight week.
Dubois fell ill and withdrew just days before fight night, so Parker obliterated stand-in opponent Martin Bakole within two rounds instead.
His promoter Frank Warren recently revealed they are planning on fighting next in September, but Parker now seems keen to get back out earlier than that.
