The Chicago Blackhawks had a lot of great years with captain Jonathan Toews. That included three Stanley Cups and multiple individual awards for him including the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP.
It would be an understatement to say that he lived up to his status as the third overall pick in the 2006 NHL Draft.
Toews wasn’t this mega offensive player but he was elite in all three zones. In addition to his work defensively, he finished his Blackhawks tenure with 372 goals and 511 assists for 883 points in 1067 games played.
Unfortunately, some health issues have kept Toews away from the NHL since the 2022-23 season ended. He was still a productive player when he left so it’s been a wonder whether or not he’ll ever come back.
On Thursday, Toews took to Instagram to release an update on his health and how he’s going about getting back to full strength.
Toews revealed that he’s been in India for healing and that it’s been trending. It seems that Toews is taking a very unique approach to getting his body and mind to where it needs to be following the health issues that he’s been dealing with for almost five years.
Is Toews done in the NHL? That is hard to predict. He hasn’t retired and he didn’t hint at retiring in this post. Only time will tell on that front.
This is one of the nicest people to ever play the game of hockey and few perfected their craft better than him. There is a reason that winning followed him everywhere he went. Hopefully, things continue to trend in the right direction for the former Blackhawks captain.
