Jonathan Kuminga appears to have several potential suitors as he navigates through restricted free agency as well as his uncertain future with the Golden State Warriors.
According to Aaron Turner, Kuminga’s agent, the forward has received interest from teams other than the Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings.
“He’s gotten a chance to hear from other teams,” Turner said during an appearance on The Hoop Collective Podcast (16:00 mark). “Sacramento, he spent some time with them. Got to meet Scott Perry, Doug Christie. The Suns and what they’ve offered him. There’s been other teams too, maybe planting seeds for ’26, ’27. But saying, ‘Hey, we want you to be you. We don’t want you to change anything. We want to put the ball in your hands. We want to give you a huge opportunity to play.'”
Sam Amick of The Athletic previously reported that the Kings and Suns were the “two suitors in play” for Kuminga, although the Warriors “shut down” trade talks with both teams earlier in the summer.
Per Amick, Sacramento offered Golden State veteran guard Malik Monk and a protected 2030 first-round pick while giving Kuminga a three-year deal worth $63 million. Protections on the first-round draft choice were a sticking point in negotiations, though.
According to ESPN’s Anthony Slater and Shams Charania, the Warriors recently offered Kuminga a three-year, $75.2 million contract that includes a team option for the final season.
Meanwhile, Turner revealed that his client would accept a multi-year offer from Golden State that contained a player option instead of a team option.
Kuminga is coming off a 2024-25 season in which he only made 47 appearances due to a sprained right ankle, continuing to move back and forth between the Warriors’ starting lineup and bench.
He averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from three-point territory.
Both sides are likely searching for a resolution before Golden State’s training camp opens on Sept. 29.
