Former Ole Miss golfer Jackson Suber used a two under round to keep himself in the top ten finishing up the John Deere Classic on Sunday.
Suber’s final round of 69 (nice) was his worst round of the very positive weekend as he finished (-17) tied for sixth for the tournament. Chris Gotterup shot the lowest round of the tournament (62, -9) on Sunday to come from behind in the field and finish at 20 under for the title.

All in all, this season has been a great success for the Florida native who was a two time All-American at Ole Miss. He now has three top 10 finishes, and he’s made nine of his 15 cuts amassing nearly $1.5 million in earnings, which to me humbly is pretty damn good money playing golf for a living.
Suber also sits at No. 78 in the FedEx Cup standings within shouting distance of the top 70 that qualify for the PGA Tour Playoffs beginning in next month. Currently, he will not be playing this week in either the Genesis Scottish Open or the ISCO Championship, so there will likely be some rankings shifts that occur this week for him.
Next up, however, is a debut in what everyone outside the United States considers as the most important tournament in golf at the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale in England. It will be his third major championship appearance with two US Opens under his belt. He qualified for the Open with a top 5 finish at the RBC Canadian Open, but it will truly be a huge test for the 26-year-old in a different style of course across the pond.
There will be wall to wall coverage of the Open starting July 12, and we’ll continue to follow Suber on his route to hopefully a playoff qualification coming soon.
