Little John has his first college victory.

John Daly II, the son of two-time major winner John Daly, captured his first collegiate victory Monday at the Columbia Spring Invitational. Daly II played his final five holes in 6 under to finish at 1-under 139, which was tied with two other golfers. But Daly II took home medalist honors in a scorecard playoff at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and the 21-year-old junior at Arkansas has his first trophy.

Daly shot even-par in the first 18-hole round Monday morning, and he was 5 over with five holes to play in his afternoon round. He finished 2-3-3-3-3 to get in at 1 under for the round – and tournament – tying Yale’s Matthew Lin and Dartmouth’s Tyler Brand, but the scorecard playoff went to Daly II.

Yale took home the team title, finishing at 7 over and four shots in front of Arkansas.

This season, Daly II has a T-4 at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate and a stroke average of 71.2 before his latest tournament. In his last start, he tied for 37th at the Valspar Collegiate.

The Dalys teamed up to win the PNC Championship in 2021, beating Tiger and Charlie Woods by two shots.
