JJ Spaun is a debutant at the BMW PGA Championship and appears to have fallen in love with the event.
Spaun is four shots back of the leading Ryan Gerrard after two days of play, and after his second round he sang the praises of the tournament at Wentworth and the DP World Tour generally.

The 2025 US Open champion said, “I think the new structure of the PGA TOUR and schedule moving forward, especially in 2028, this will give us more opportunity, more time, to play events abroad. This was kind of like a stepping stone, just to see how it was and if I like it.
“I definitely feel like I’m going to plan a little bit more of a global schedule or a European schedule moving forward in the fall time. So it’s been lovely so far. The community’s great. The spectators and fans are great. The boys on this tour are great. The support’s awesome. It’s been a brilliant time so far.”
These comments could not have come at a better time for the DP World Tour in what is expected to be a vitally important few months.

As LIV Golf filed for bankruptcy, a mass exodus of players is expected to leave the breakaway league to play on the DP World Tour next season. Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton are among those likely to serve their PGA Tour suspensions while playing on the DP World Tour.

For many Europeans, playing on their home tour next year is a no-brainer. Players like Hatton and Rahm are already members, so they will likely relish the idea of playing around the world while they await a PGA Tour return.
However, this decision is less straightforward for the Americans. They are less familiar with the DP World Tour overall and may have reservations about playing away from home all year.
That’s why Spaun’s comments are so valuable to the DP World Tour. As an American who has not historically played much on the DP World Tour, his experiences in Europe this season have encouraged him to play abroad more often moving forward.
