Breece Hall realizes his future is very much in limbo. The star running back is playing on the fourth and final year of his rookie contract with the Jets, who would fall to an NFL-worst 0-6 this Sunday with a loss to the Broncos across the pond in London.

And since the Jets resemble a playoff pretender, the contenders are actively searching for roster upgrades before the league's trade deadline arrives in early November. Hall is among the players swirling in rumors, and he isn't thrilled to hear his name mentioned in those conversations.

"At this point, it is what it is. I’m here, I want to be here. I love being a New York Jet and everything," Hall explained after Friday's practice. "At the end of the day, I don’t control what goes on; I only control what I do on the field and how I handle my business off the field."

Hall wasn't eligible for the fifth-year option this past offseason, as teams can only apply the guaranteed extension to first-round picks. But no matter where Hall finishes the 2025 season or plays in 2026, he's an impending unrestricted free agent, taking the field with make-or-break pressure.

At the moment, Hall has an intriguing market value. He's averaging 5.3 yards per carry — his highest mark since his 2022 rookie campaign — and a career-best 100.2 scrimmage yards on 83 total touches. Encouraging numbers for a player who took a step back, production-wise, in 2024.

But the first five games of this season haven't been blemish-free for Hall. He's yet to record a touchdown or log a run of 25-plus yards. He's registered just four carries and targets apiece inside the red zone. He fumbled in the Jets' debilitating home loss to the Cowboys last week.

At the moment, it's safe to assume the Jets are listening to all inquiries regarding Hall. But cutting ties with the former second-round pick would make their running back room awfully thin. With backup Braelon Allen on injured reserve, the alternatives to Hall are Isaiah Davis, Kene Nwangwu, and Khalil Herbert.

"For me, it’s all about servicing my teammates and coaches the best way I can, and let God handle whatever else," Hall said. "Every day I come out, like I said, I’m servicing my teammates and coaches, glorifying God, and whatever happens happens after that.”

Hall is still holding out hope for an extension with the Jets, and while the chances of a deal taking place soon remain slim, he still has an opportunity to boost his value in the coming weeks. Sunday will be a tall order, though — the Broncos have allowed just 88.4 rushing yards on average, the fifth-best mark in the NFL.
