According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Winnipeg Jets are interested in Boston Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo.

The 28-year-old has been with the Bruins organization since they drafted him in the second round (37th overall) in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He’s gone on to play 615 games with the Bruins, scoring 29 goals and 109 points.

This year he’s played in 61 of the Bruins’ 62 games, scoring a goal and nine points.

The Bruins’ season hasn’t gone well. Throughout the last few years, they’ve watched key veterans like Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci retire, and old age is starting to catch up to some others. Without many top prospects, the Bruins must find creative ways of gaining draft capital and bringing in young players. One way to do this is by trading a known defenseman.

The market hasn’t been set for Carlo just yet, but other Canadian teams have reportedly shown interest in Carlo. The Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers are looking to bolster their blue line and are hoping to do so by adding the 6’5, 220 lbs American defenseman.

Adding Carlo to the Jets’ blue line would provide them with another big defender, capable of clearing the front of their net.
