New York Yankees second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. became the third player in franchise history to amass at least 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases in a single season after hitting a two-run shot in the top of the seventh inning on Friday in a 4-2 road loss against the Baltimore Orioles.

Outfielder Bobby Bonds was the first Yankee to accomplish the feat, doing so in 1975 with 32 home runs and 30 stolen bases. Second baseman Alfonso Soriano accomplished the feat in 2002 (39 home runs, 41 stolen bases) and 2003 (38 home runs, 35 stolen bases).

Chisholm now has 30 home runs and 30 stolen bases with eight games left in the regular season. He joined New York Mets outfielder (and ex-Yankees teammate) Juan Soto in this year’s 30-30 club (Soto had 42 homers and 34 stolen bases on the year).

Chisholm’s also added 77 RBI and 73 runs in a year where he missed all of May with an oblique strain. That didn’t stop Chisholm from being productive for a Yankees team that’s first in the American League Wild Card race and three games back of the Toronto Blue Jays for the AL East lead.

Chisholm’s Friday homer, a 388-footer off Baltimore Orioles relief pitcher Dietrich Enns, cut the Orioles’ lead to 3-2. However, Baltimore added an insurance run in the bottom half of the frame before earning the 4-2 win.

Chisholm and the Yankees will look to bounce back Saturday in Baltimore. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET.
