Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis have agreed to change one of the fight rules after a huge argument erupted during their press tour.
The unlikely rivals got into a heated exchange over the weight of the gloves for their November 14 exhibition bout in Miami, to be streamed live on Netflix.
Most Valuable Promotions co-founder, Nakisa Bidarian, announced the rules of the bout at the launch of press tour in New York on Monday.
He revealed the contest would be given a weight limit of 195lbs, with 12oz gloves, over 10 three-minute rounds, with three professional judges at ringside to score the contest to declare a winner.
Just a day later and Tank’s long-term trainer, Calvin Ford, queried, “My question to you is where the 12oz gloves come from? Why y’all couldn’t take 10[oz]? He had 8[oz], he’s already giving up 4oz of the gloves.”
28-year-old Jake Paul instantly retorted, “Wait, you guys are the ones who wanted to do 12oz gloves, not me. I’ll do 8[oz]; f–k, I’ll do 4[oz], I’ll do 2[oz]… I’ll do bareknuckle!”
‘The Problem Child’ further pushed Davis for an answer, “So what do you guys want? 10oz, 8oz? The 12oz came from your guys’ side.”
“No it did not,” Davis instantly challenged him back.
So Paul responded, “Perfect, then what do you want? 10oz? Perfect, it doesn’t matter to him [Davis], so back to what I always wanted, which was 10oz.”
Paul affirmed, “Let’s do it, that’s great. That’s going to make it more exciting for the fans. Thank God, I wanted 10’s really badly. Let’s do it!”
The rule change wasn’t the only thing the rivals agreed on; they also shook hands on a $2million bet too!
