  • Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and 16-year-old Miles Russell are participating in professional golf tournaments this week.
  • Lawrence is playing in the American Century Championship for the second time, while Russell will compete in his third PGA Tour event at the ISCO Championship.
  • The busy golf schedule will offer 54 hours of live coverage across various networks.

What do Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence and 16-year-old Miles Russell of Jacksonville Beach have in common?

They’re both part of a busy professional golf schedule this week in which every major golf tour is in action, including two PGA Tour events, LIV Golf Andalucia in Spain and the annual American Celebrity Golf Championship July 11-13 in Lake Tahoe, Nev.

Lawrence is making his second appearance in the celebrity tournament. He tied for 44th last year with 12 points under the Modified Stableford format. It wasn’t close to former tennis player Mardy Fish, who won with 83 points, but Lawrence finished ahead of past and current NFL quarterbacks Steve Young, Joe Flacco, Joe Theismann and Baker Mayfield.

Lawrence also beat former coach Doug Pederson by four shots with a final-round 76.

Miles Russell making seventh pro start

Russell, who committed to play college golf at Florida State last week, is entering his third PGA Tour event on a sponsor invitation at the ISCO Championship July 10-13, at the Hurstbourne Country Club in Louisville. Russell played in the 2024 Rocket Classic and Butterfield Bermuda Open, missing the cut in both.

He’s also played in four Korn Ferry Tour events, and the one cut he made at the 2024 LECOM Suncoast Classic set the record for the youngest ever to make it to the weekend on the KF Tour.

Scottish Open is preliminary to Open Championship

Elsewhere, the PGA Tour’s stars are flocking to the Renaissance Club in North Berwick, Scotland July 10-13 for the Genesis Scottish Open, the prelude to next week’s Open Championship at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland. Eight of the top 10 players on the World Golf Rankings, including the top five of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa, are playing.

How busy is the golf schedule? Consider this: There will be live competition on Golf Channel, CBS and NBC on July 12-13 from 4 a.m. (when the LPGA Amundi Evian Championship begins in France) to 7 p.m. (when the ISCO Championship concludes).
