Jackson Koivun has hit the ground running on the PGA Tour.
He turned professional just a month ago, arriving on the PGA Tour with high expectations as golf’s hottest young prospect. And through three events, he’s lived up to the hype.

The 21-year-old won the 3M Open, fending off the charging Scottie Scheffler on Sunday to win his first PGA Tour event. If there wasn’t hype surrounding Koivun already, there certainly is now.
Koivun’s win attracted the attention of the entire sporting landscape, hitting the radar of NBA superstar Steph Curry. Speaking before the Rocket Classic, Koivun revealed what Curry said to him after his first pro victory.

What Steph Curry told Jackson Koivun after his first PGA Tour win
Koivun’s phone blew up after his 3M Open win. He said he’d received around 300 text messages from people congratulating him, and some sports stars were included.

He said he received a phone call from Steph Curry, who had some kind words for him. Koivun said on the Rich Eisen Show, “My agent used to work in basketball, so he called Chris Paul and Steph Curry after I won, and I got to talk to them, which was cool.
“And a couple former golfers, or not former older golfers like JT and Billy Horschel and Russell Henley. It was cool to see some guys I looked up to shoot me a text.”
When asked how his conversation with Curry went, he said, “Yeah, I mean it wasn’t too long, but he just said congrats, and he was just kind of impressed with the way I handled myself, and it was just all good, kind words, and I appreciated it.”
Curry is a fine golfer himself, boasting a handicap of +1.3. He flexed his golfing prowess by winning the American Century Championship at Lake Tahoe and getting a hole in one in the process.

He’s friendly with many of the top golfers in the game, such as Bryson DeChambeau, and we can now add Koivun to that list. He’s officially made it!
