On Saturday night, Terence Crawford will be in the spotlight for one of the biggest fights of his career.

However, as Crawford has prepared for his fight against Canelo Alvarez — which will already be a significant physical challenge as Crawford jumps up to the 168-pound super middleweight division — rumors of a shoulder injury have followed the star.

Across social media, rumors flared up in recent days that Crawford has been dealing with a shoulder ailment that has been “lingering.” Just days before his bout with Alvarez, Crawford addressed those rumors.

MORE: What is Terence Crawford’s net worth?

Is Terence Crawford injured?

Crawford has denied the fact that he is dealing with any kind of shoulder injury. Of course, no fighter steps into a ring at full 100 percent health, but based on the star’s response to a question about a shoulder ailment on Tuesday, there’s less reason to believe he’s actually being held back by any shoulder pain.

“Where do I got a shoulder injury?” Crawford said Tuesday while moving his shoulders around. “I don’t know. I think people coming up with they own antics. ‘Terence Crawford got a shoulder injury, Terence Crawford out of shape, Terence Crawford slow.’ They coming up with all kinds of stuff.”

Crawford also talked about the shoulder rumors on Wednesday, saying in a sarcastic tone, “Yeah, my shoulder’s messed up everyone,” and, “Don’t tell Canelo.” Crawford also reportedly joked that maybe it was “both” of his shoulders that had issues.

Perhaps Crawford also wouldn’t admit publicly that he was dealing with a shoulder injury even if he was, so the fight against Alvarez would go on. But still, based on Crawford’s calm response to the rumors, there shouldn’t be too much concern for his shoulder.

Terence Crawford injury rumors

On Sept. 8, rumors first began going around on social media that Crawford was dealing with a shoulder injury. X account @Pound4our4Pound made a post that read, “I’m hearing from a close source that Terence Crawford’s shoulder that he had surgery on has been ‘flaring up’ in camp” and “Apparently it has been a lingering issue for the past 8-10 weeks & is being monitored closely.”

The X account merely describes itself as a “boxing enthusiast,” though, so there’s no indication of whether or not those claims about Crawford had any validity. Still, that didn’t stop the post from going around.

Another X account, @AccordToBoxing, followed up on those shoulder rumors by “debunking” them, writing that the account who made the claims was “the same page that made up the story about Mayweather going to Colorado to see Crawford,” and “video evidence suggests that this is just a desperate act from the usual suspects.”
