Dodgers minor league pitcher Hyun-Seok Jang was dominant in his High-A debut last Thursday for the Great Lakes Loons, and for his efforts the 22-year-old right-hander was named Midwest League pitcher of the week after his very first game at the level.
Jang last Thursday allowed only a double and two singles in his six scoreless innings in a home win over the Fort Wayne TinCaps, a San Diego Padres affiliate, with eight strikeouts. The six innings matched a professional career high for Jang, whom the Dodgers signed out of South Korea for $900,000 in August 2023.

Jang, who induced 11 swinging strikes in his gem and walked none, which highlights a big improvement for him this season. In 2025 with Class-A Rancho Cucamonga, Jang had a 4.65 ERA in 13 starts and 40 2/3 innings, but also walked 18.3 percent of his batters faced, to go with his otherwise impressive 30.9-percent strikeout rate.
This year in 16 games with Class-A Ontario plus his one start in Great Lakes, Jang has a 5.42 ERA in 73 innings with a 28.4-percent strikeout rate but an 8.9-percent walk rate, trimming his free passes by more than half. He’s walked more than two batters only three times in his 17 appearances so far in 2026.
Deadline moves
The Dodgers on Monday made three other moves ahead of the trade deadline, a few of which involved players on minor league teams in the organization.

Chayce McDermott was with Oklahoma City before falling into DFA limbo last week. The right-hander was dealt to the New York Mets in the Ben Rortvedt deal.
The Dodgers acquired catcher Hunter Feduccia was well, and in that deal came right-hander Jacob Kmatz, who had 74 strikeouts and 10 walks between High-A and Double-A in the Tampa Bay Rays’ system this season. Kmatz will report to Double-A Tulsa. Also in that deal, outfielder Jack Suwinski leaves Oklahoma City and is now in the Rays’ system.
Carlos Durán pitched in 37 games for Oklahoma City this year, but he was traded to the Royals in the Kris Bubic deal.
In addition to all the trade maneuverings, catcher Chuckie Robinson and reliever Jonathan Hernández were called up Monday from Oklahoma City to fill in for the Dodgers, and Emmet Sheehan was optioned to Triple-A.
