The last time Tottenham Hotspur hosted Everton, Spurs desperately needed a positive result to avoid relegation from the Premier League and pave the path for what would turn out to be a $400-million-plus transfer window.
Fast-forward four months, and Spurs are in desperate need of a result once again. Roberto De Zerbi’s side is winless in three games to start the 2026-27 season and the next goal they score will be their first of the campaign. Not exactly instant return on investment, but the idea is that De Zerbi will be given ample time to implement and execute his project, until he isn’t. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
