Sixty-three … 62 … 61 … 60!

When you see these numbers posted multiple times over a two-day span, it likely means there’ll be some carnage at the 36-hole cut. And such is the case outside of Dallas, where more than half the field at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson is closing their trunks in dismay. How is finishing 5 under not good enough?

Yes, it’s shocking. But 6 under was the number at TPC Craig Ranch, marking the lowest 36-hole cut on Tour this season.

Si Woo Kim shot 60 Friday — with a bogey at the last — to lead by five shots at 18 under. Sungjae Im and Jackson Suber had 61s. Jordan Spieth, Max Greyserman and Tom Hoge shot 62; Taylor Moore did the same Thursday.

“Everything was perfect, other than the last hole. I’ll still take it,” Kim said. “Sixty is hard, but I was a little bit of thinking about the 59 after I make that on 17. It was a little bit of like adrenalin.”

Wrong side of 65

Shooting 65 should be worthy of celebration, right? Not for Nick Dunlap and William Sides who missed the cut despite going 6 under and bogey-free on their respective back nines.

But such is the story this week at the Byron Nelson.

Also missing the cut were Michael Thorbjornsen (5 under) and Haotong Li (5 under).
